Enjoy

Finished and posted in the DIY Section. If anyone has questions just let me know. I'm a little groggy so something may not be clear so just let me know if you're missing anything.

Thumbs up

^ HOLY F*'ing SH&T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

DUDE - Elrooko - you should be PAID to write up ALL our "D.I.Y" doc's!

Let me know your paypal and I'll make a small deposit for your troubles on everyone's behalf - and hopefully others will do the same, to at least say a "THANKS SO MUCH for all your HARD work brother!"

W.O.W!!

I'm still drooling over this DIY - b/c I have a JDM steering wheel I want to replace the OEM (USDM) steering wheel with,....and then do this light-up switches/buttons mod at the same time, while I have everything torn apart

OMG!!!!! This is going to be schweet!!!

THANKS ELROOKO, and to ALL that have helped get this done (and noteably done 1st class!)

Thanks Guys!

Thanks - I don't need or want anything for it, make a donation to your local SPCA or a childrens hospital - they need it more than I do.

No problem on the DIY - I know what it's like to really want to do a Mod only to find lame, half baked instructions that really don't help a whole lot. Whenever I document something, I make sure to write it like I'm the other guy who is reading it. I wrote a book once so that helps as well.

Have fun and enjoy. If you get stuck, just let me know.

^ I'll make a donation to Children's - that's AWESOME of you man!!!

Yeah - writing the DIY like you are the 'other guy' that's reading it, seems to make the "perfect write-up" for basically anyone to be able to read and follow along to get the mod accomplished successfully.

Have fun and enjoy. If you get stuck, just let me know.
^ Thanks man, I truly appreciate that - I plan on doing this mod this (or) next weekend!!!!

I'm sure I can speak for ALL when I say THANK YOU BRO!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to bring back an old thread - to the OP, how do those '06 buttons with bluetooth control work out in your '04? I know you can make them all light up, but does the bluetooth button work as the power and the mode button let you switch between mode, or in any different ways? I got the same control set with bluetooth control button like the ones in your pic, not sure if I should spend the money to get a different set of the buttons. BTW thanks for the great write-up from everyone!

Success with updates!!

Finally got this done, looks really good! A really good touch-up for 03/04 interior!

Now here's something very interesting:

1, the empty slot on the grey connector was different from what accordfreak, Daehtihs, and elrooko have described; in my case it was the 2nd one from top left (see image). I took a chance and surprisingly it lined up to the yellow power wire on the new steering wheel control. I grounded the same way as Daehtihs. Not sure if this is year/model related; mine's 03.5 6MT sedan;

2, the control I got was from an '06 with premium package, so on the audio control side, instead of the Mode/Power buttons, mine has Phone/Mode. Once connected, the '06 Phone button works as Mode and the 06' Mode button works as Power. It's the same as OP, and just want to confirm this in case anyone is curious.

I have a question though: does 05/06 interior light dimmer control the steering wheel lights? Mine are constant lit with the door lock and power window controls. Maybe 05/06 owners can chime in.

Big thanks to Daehtihs, accordfreak and elrooko for the information!
