Advice on dash kits

I have an 06 x with an all black interior and chrome panels. I was thinking of using a dash kit to change to wood panels. Anyone out there try this? Any suggestions?

I don't like wood either, but to each his own. Burtman Industries has a birdseye kit and a carbon fiber kit (looks better on the G IMO).

Personally, I like real wood..not the overlay kits, though.

I like the high gloss real burl wood that mercedes use to use....now MB is going for more of a satin finish, like the one infiniti is using.

Wood dash kit in the 21st century..............?

Let's be real...........are you living in the 70s? That was when everyone had
to have a wood dash. I had wood dashes/shift ***** in my '65 & '68 GTOs
but haven't had the desire since. Most of the carbon fiber dash kits I've
seen are flat and don't look great.....sorry I gotta pass! One option is to have the silver pieces painted the same color as your car.....that looks good
depending on your color.

Cool

Geez...I always thought the wood look gave a bit more class. Most high end cars seem to have it. BTW - are they hard to install or more trouble then they are worth?

I thought about them too, but decided that they wouldn't look right. The original stuff looks better.

The sites all say they are easy to install (big surprise!) but I bet they are a fair amount of trouble to get lined up right, and if they are not aligned, they will look bad.

Some manufacturers seem to be the makers who sell to others, but I can't remember which sounded better when I did the looking two years ago.

I can send you many more installed pics. The quality is in the kit. Feel free to email me.

I have been interested in doing this too, as the previous owner installed one on my car that I don't really like. It's kind of a silver pearl look. I would love to get a dash kit that is made of real wood, and not just the overlay. The one thing that has prevented me from pulling the trigger a couple of times is I don't really like the look of shiny wood (leave it alone guys, don't even go there). If there was one that had a more matted or satin finish I would have gotten it by now. As of now I'm still on the fence. I have seen them listed on Ebay for as little as $141 with $10 for shipping if you wanted to take a look there.

Good luck.
