Drive Belt Glazed
Drive Belt Glazed
This is the second time...The car squealed like a pig at the dealrship performing my seat TSB and they got to keep her for another day. I have 16k now and it had about 9 when Glaze #1 occurred. WTF? I was going to strongly consider pulleys as mod but now would be bummed to glaze again and then have them say it was the replacement assembly.
Why does this happen? Heat from something I assume - any one else have AC drivebelts squeak or replaced?

Re: Drive Belt Glazed
The only ways I know of for belts to get glazed is to either spill or leak something on it, or have a faulty tensioner. Might also be a pulley that's out of alignment.
I agree that it would be wise to solve that issue first b4 changing pulleys.
The dealer should have some ideas on this too.

Re: Drive Belt Glazed
No spills that I performed - only liquid I've put in is washer fluid. I'm starting to hate my dealer as they cut the crap out of my titanium plastic door handle insert and then the guy says "well did you do it".
Re: Drive Belt Glazed
I had my drive belts replaced one. They squeeked when the car was at idle, so at stoplights, it was kind of embarassing. The dealer tried to tighten them, but the noise came back the next day, so they decided to just change them. Not sure if they looked glazed or not.
