auto window up malfuntion

alright, i've had my first glitch. rinsed my car off at a self serve during the last cold spell, and now the drivers window has gone nutty. if i put it on auto up, it gets to the top and rolls half way down by itself. the only way i can get it to go up and stay up is raise the window without clicking it to the auto up mode. thinking the freezing water may be interfereing with something in the process.

any thoughts, or is this a "take it to the dealer" problem?

there's a reset button on the motor, you need to pull the door panel off. Sounds like the limiter is off and it thinks something is in the way of the window so it retracts back down as a safety measure.

That happened on mine before the motor went out. It could be one of the symptoms.

it is an 06...where abouts on the motor is the reset button? also, this may be unrelated, but there is now a slight click/clunk from the window at the halfway point of being rolled down or up. this along with the auto window lowering (when the door is opened) is not functioning correctly either.

i had that same problem. brought it to the dealer and they found that it was a regulator problem..However it could also be the motor out of adjustment..so resetting it is possible.

the reset button is located on the motor housing, you need to pull the door panel off.

This is indeed a safety feature in when the motor detects some opposition it will retract back. This feature is from 03+.

It could be that it needs to be "re-calibrated" or it's the pinch protection feature. Do a visual check to make sure there's nothing getting in the way. If there's nothing, then since it's an 06 and its within warranty, just bring it in.

As stated above... Reset the window reg motor...

If that doesnt do it, you may need a new motor though ... :-/

04 coupe.. had 3 regulators replaced in the first year ( warranty)
no problems since then... I was told there was a "bad batch" of regulators, they were replacing bad with bad till they ran out of them.
anybody else hear this ?

The original regulators were not very good that is true...

The new ones that have been shipping since late 04 early 05 are an updated version... same part number.. but updated part... has better sealing...

Under RESETTING, it says...

1. Raise the glass to the top dead center.

But then, under CAUTION, it says...

Do not operate the glass automatically to raise the glass to the top dead position.

Can anyone clear this up? what does it mean by automatically?
