Re-wrapping steering wheel?

Hey guys my steering wheel has been looking pretty gross lately because the leather is wearing off. I guess its from me gripping it too hard or something. But in any case, there was a thread earlier that people mentioned going to the dealership to get it rewrapped for about 100 bucks or so.

So i decided to give it a try and called the dealership. To my surprise, they said they do not offer such a service because the employees do not know how to do it. So has anyone ever tried doing this at the dealership? They wouldn't even give me a price because they said it simply just can't be done.

Any ideas?

My dealership replaced it under warranty at 34k. I don’t really know if they put a new steering wheel on or just rewrapped mine.

It has to be a new steering wheel if it is going to be bought on Ebay, otherwise you are going to run into the same problem in 24 months.

If the dealership does not rewrap it, I would have it covered in suede at an upholstery shop.
