Something has to be shorting out. I was recently playing with some more switches and found out that you cannot plug a switch from an AT into an MT, and vice versa. The pinout for the plugs are different and will blow your interior lights fuse, which is also a pain in the **** to change.
If you are still using your original switch, it has to be shorting somewhere in there.

Pretty sure it's the LED's shorting it because I just unplugged them from the switch, plugged the switch back into the car and nothing shorts. Mine look like this -
Again, it's time for me to be that guy that revives an old thread. But when taking apart my switch, all the parts sprung out on the ground so I didn't get to see how the slider is supposed to look with the three prong attachment. (see picture) So after blowing three fuses from improper reassembly, I figured out that this is how it was supposed to look
