I'm trying to install the momo automatic **** but on the 05 there's a chrome rectangle shape piece that connects to the boot that then connects to the oem shift ****. My question is how do I remove the plastic piece to make it look like the pix below.

You need to remove the shifter bezel and flip the boot inside-out to remove the clip that holds it together.

 

I thought all you had to do was move the shift boot down and remove the clip?

go to the step for dash/stereo removal for clear pictures.

 

you dont have to remove the shifter bezel. just pull the leather part away from the bottom of the chrome collar. its pretty stubborn but once you get one side out it should be easy to take out.
