Unhappy Center Console Issues

Ok.... So I just took my console apart the other day and now I can't get the lower panel with the ashtray to properly line up with the radio panel i.e. it's crooked now. It starts off fine when I go to put it back on, but when I snap in the back near the arm rest, the driver's side drops and leaves a somewhat large gap. Can anyone help me out here? I really really want it to be lined up again.
Thanks in advance guys and girls.

Can you show us a pic? It should line up unless you messed with the tab somehow. Make sure you seat the shifter plate up to the radio panel first.

that's weird I have taken the center console off dozens of times and never had a problem. Have you check if any of the wires have moved and are now obstructing the tabs?

Do you have a 6mt or auto? Ignore this comment if you have an auto... I guess the auto is a little harder to re-install since the 6mt is just the boot, ashtray and emergency light button...

I will post some pics later today... It is an auto, and I've tried to redo it several times, and it still doesn't quite line back up. It's only slightly off, but it is annoying.
