Hello, today I changed ny head unit. The disassembly and install went without a hitch. I got everything reinstalled except the Automatic shift ****. I cant get it to sit properly on the plastic extender to insert the retaining clip/spring. What Am I doing wrong?

Solved.
I looked at it again today (in daylight ) and realised that the little plastic extender that that interacts with the switch had turned that was why the **** wasnt sitting well.
