if the center console dont fit,, just have someone cut the front part of the 5at and the back part of the 6mt and mold it together.. then paint it and install..

ive done this to another car before.. it came out perfectly..

it should all bolt up normally. just get the console, lever assembly and the cable assembly for a 6mt and swap it out. you might have do do something as far as the finisher piece for the shifter itself tho.

I just realized something. The 350z has a center console that consisted of an auto tranny and a hand brake.

Here's a link to the picture

I know it may not fit perfect, but I'm betting with some modding it will!

I actually bought a 6mt console and hand brake. It actually would bolt up normally. The problem is the whole 6mt console sits a few inches lower than the auto. So, after putting in the one from the 6mt, the automatic shifter mechanism still sits up too high to put the shifter shroud on.

Thread revival to see what came of this. I really want to perform this myself. I would even go as far as making a custom shifter shroud if I found out that the Handbrake became a success!!

Wow this thread is super old but I figured I would post an update. I didn't end up going through with the swap. The shifter lever sitting too high was the biggest obstacle. Even if the shroud was the right shape it still wouldn't fit over top of the shifter. All that said I scrapped the idea and sold the console. Kinda wish I still kept it to experiment more.

$10k plus your car and you can have my 6mt sedan. Much much much much easier than sourcing parts and swapping guts.
