Driver seat not automatically moving forward...

When I try to access my rear seats in my 2003 coupe, the driver's seat will not move forward (unless I give it a good shove...works sometimes) and I have to use the switch to move it forward, and then back, to get it back to its original position.

From what I've ready, some have suggested making sure the parking brake is engaged; that has never been the case before, as I rarely leave my parking brake on. Others have suggested that the gears need to be replaced. If this is actually the case, why would the gears need to be replaced if the seat is able to move forward/backward from using the switch? If the gears are really the problem, I have no issue replacing them...just want to be sure that's all there is to the problem.

Anybody have any ideas?

My '03 has always needed the parking brake engaged a couple of clicks for the driver's seat to move forward automatically.

The passenger side doesn't need it, just the driver's.

Our passenger seats are the issue.

The OP's issue was the driver's seat.

I've seen the Zs motors have issues. I think it's a solenoid issue.

But I haven't seen/heard of it happening in the Gs, do you use your memory seats (do you leave it on so it moves back when you get out of the car) Because that in the long run will burn it out.

I have had my motor replaced on the driver seat.. it would not move forward or back.. there are actually 3 or 4 motors on the driver seat (well if u have a 07).. u just have to figure out which one moves what..
1 = forward and back
1 = tilt forward and back
1 = rise the seat up and down
not sure
1 = angle of the seat

05 G35 coupe " driver side back seating not working?

hello everyone ! I'm new to this form & would gladly appreciate advise on my current issue. My drivers seat (backing that supports my back) is not moving forward & or backwards. All other switches work fine. It is currently locks In a back position making it difficult to drive. I took the G to a mechanic the work as a tech for infiniti and he tried so e trouble shouting techinics by knocking the motors under the seats with a small hammer and even un zippered the backing of the chair and unplug a few wires.. Still no luck to make the seat move.. He advised that the motor is seized and would require to replace the upper part of the seat as the motor is not avaiLable to purchase separately ??? At a cost of $3000 for the seat + labor.... Is there not a simpler solution ??? Please advise
