What's up guys? My center console and door grips are flaking and I've been considering having them painted professionally the color of my car (red). Opinions? Ricey or classy? And by my console I mean all the way to my nav screen leaving my AT gate the brushed aluminum look.

 

there's a chance that it can look really good, but personally I would go with stock coloring. You could do it yourself for much cheaper too, which means you could try different colors if you want. I wouldn't paint large sections if I was to go with a color. I would just do accents.

I painted a few interiors and if you go looking for paint products, use SEM. It's always worked the best

 

If I used any product it would be PPG or Omni. I was worried about it being too much red, but I don't want anything highly glossy. I definitely don't want ricey. I've seen the tuxedo black and I like it, but it's too reflective. So in that respect I don't want anything flashy. Any thoughts.

I painted my door pulls and the paint is kind chipping... Not to hack the tread but a nice DIY would be nice, and yes I read the one on here. But like I said the paint is chipping from that DIY.

Yea whos my car is so rice. Is ur silver flaking? Mine is. I'm looking for color options. I thought color matching might look good. I was wrong. So should I go back with silver or maybe a nice satin black? I'm not ricing my car obviously by the pic. But my door pulls look terrible.

 

Jones it's all in the prep work. Don't cut any corners sand properly and make sure to clean it thoroughly before applying the paint.

Nah not at all, just glare a lil off the radio sometimes. If you have the black interior then I say go gloss black. Most of the time body color looks ricey imo.

Just do everything that was silver, black. Keep it simple.

Anything similar to stock is the way to go. Trying to add color can sometimes look good but usually it turns out wrong. If you were wanting to do some type of color addition, you could always get a shift boot with red stitching or something.

I still say SEM paint and prep is the way to go. Do some research, it's a great paint. It's what I used to restore my 240sx and it turned out perfect and looking like the stock black color.

 

I think I'll respray with ford DSG. It's a darker shade of gray metallic. I appreciate the feedback.

 

red may be a lil much . Neutral tones look better but everyone has there own taste . Personally i love color matched interiors . We have done a bunch for customers . If you do it have it professionally sprayed with bc/cc .

 

base coat / clear coat?

Im having the same problem, i was looking in my closet n i found some of my old 350z's paint... u guys think a chrome silver(KY0) w/ clearcoat would look good on it? i have a willow interior btw... im just worried about it gettting sticky :/
