Sunroof problem

I tried to close my sunroof and it was making a horrible noise so I looked in the track and there is a bunch of broken plastic, one piece had a metal clip in it.. Sunroof still opens and closes..

I'll look into it when I get to my computer.

Are you an engineer for Niss/Fini?

Good Joke.

Like Lost, I am just crafty and will look into a solution because it is a problem that will affect me eventually.

Hey Frankie, my sunroof was making a noise then it just stopped working with the glass tilted open. It ended up being the two screws that hold the motor in place. One fell out and the other was half way loose.

I followed this link, it is VERY easy, and it fixed my problem. I hope you have the same problem. Good luck!

I don't think that's my problem because I had broken black plastic in my track and one piece had a piece of metal, like some sort of clip in it..

You have broken parts, have them replaced!

If you use your sunroof as much as I do you should have Nissan replace whatever parts are broken. I suggest once it's fixed, every few months clean the railing and put a dab of Silicone lubricant on the rails. It doesn't dry out or gum up like WD40 and it should always run smooth...Gary

Frankie. Here are a few pictures from the Roof (RF.pdf in the FSM) section that may point to the plastic thing we found ground up.

Attachment #1 is a birds eye view of the Sunroof Rooftop area. The numbers are explained by the legend in attachment #2.

I think what ground up in your track is in attachment #3. These are called sunshade stoppers. A few too many bicep curls at the gym probably caused you to break one of these over the 8 years of ownership.

Attachments #4 and #5 are other parts in that area that could have also been possibly damaged, but I am really leaning towards the sunshade stoppers (the plastic part you slide).

Hope this solves your issue.

So I did help?

I was missing one... Maybe the previous owner had a fit of rage also.

Plus, test your seatbelt arrest ability... I discovered today while driving mine doesn't activate at all and Infiniti will replace all of my belts FOR FREE and will give me a loaner while I wait.
