Rattle from tweeter cover
Rattle from tweeter cover
Hi everyone,
Back in December, I installed the KPtechnologies auto window up module and had to remove the door panel. But in doing so, I now have a fairly faint but annoying rattle. I've actually tried my best to insulate everything actually on the door panel. So now my door sounds solid, but the rattle still persisted. I found out that it is the triangular tweeter cover that's causing the noise. But i can't figure out what the problem could be. It sounds like a cable to metal tick, but after looking at it carefully, I haven't seen any loose wires that could possibly cause the rattle. I've even secured the cables coming out of it to the door itself and gotten it to the point where it won't rattle unless going over really bumpy roads or semi-bumpy roads at slower speeds. I've already had suspicions of the location, but now can confirm it because pressing on that triangle trim makes the rattle stop when it is happening. Normally, I wouldn't mind these things and I was pretty set on leaving things very much alone since most of the time, its not rattling. But now I know where it is, I'd like to fix it. Have any of you run into a similar problem with this or have any ideas as to what in there is contacting what? It may lead to this, but the next time I have the panel open, I might just use felt and insulate the whole thing.

I've found it to be the same problem on my 06. Took the door panel off, added some foam tape to the inside of that, along the edges, and where there is a clip hole in there. Stopped that right away. Try doing that, buy the foam tape from ACE hardware. They come in various thickness in rolls and cost about $5.
Would also suggest putting the foam tape on the whole rail where the door metal of the window and the door panel come together, on the top of the door.
