G35 to JDM land
Pretty informative post Blkout. That is crazy about the cops going to real driving school. They do here, and I'm sure they are good drivers, but it sounds like the JP cops are light years ahead of what they do here.
800whp? That's pretty crazy considering there isn't **** for large straight aways. Need to have a game plan worked up before I get over there. Gonna be pretty nuts when I say: "yeah my car was tuned at Mine's"

Straight Runners
Yea bro they are the real deal in Nippon and they teachers are all the well known drifters in japan even the drift king himself Keiichi Tsuchiya himself bro when i found that out i waz like o sh*t
but that is not the only thing i waz in japan and me and my younger brother Masa out ran a normal cop we where at the light laughing because we strainght blew his door off could not even see him in our rear view mirror while at the light all we saw is the same F**cking cop coming behind us we were like how the hell is this possible
in the cop cars now they can pull up the damn traffic cameras and follow u that way and not even chase u down anymore
but we got away
put it like this Kannai station in yokohama
street mall ,sidewalk ,people screaming yea not pretty but it sucked for the rest of my time there because we could not drive the Z anymore
and my brother Z was unique color i wish it waz black.
yes brother i did not make any mistake 800whp to play it safe and keep you infront of obaa-chan
and the normal cops and not make a fool of yourself i remember when we had a dyno day at super autobacs in yokohama a 65 year old women pulled 750whp in a Fu*cking station wagon that when i first found out about stagea and found out that it had the heart of the skyline no wonder
U have alot of places to run the one i loved the most waz the Aqua-Line connect you to chiba and its a long tunnel i use to love it when the sign flash in the tunnel telling u to slow down it actally made me want to go faster ,next is the wangan shuto expressway, yoko yoko expressway ,
Tokyo C1 Highway and yokohama bay bridge that the same bridge u have to take to get to daikoku futo its a great run for real
that well be cool to have them tune your car az long as u are willing to pay the big bucks then its all good no IOU
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Bay_Aqua-Line
The only bad thing is the toll its like $50 round trip for the Aqua-Line a matter of fact all the great runs cost money on a great night it will cost u over a $100
I will be there in July 09 I am going to my boys shop i am going to learn how to tune F-con cant wait for real

Blkout,
I lived here before (black R32 GT-R) and know what the cops are like. They have beefed up since I left, though. People don't seem to speed on the toll roads like they used to. They seemed to have cracked down a bit. I remember doing 160~180km/h during the day like it was nothing
I'm going to miss those days.
I'm not looking to spend massive amounts of cash on my car. (sensible wife wouldn't let me anyway...). I used to hangout periodically at the old bayside marina spot. Which no one goes to anymore (correct?). I like hanging out and being around the scene. I do want to TT the car, but that will be sometime next year.
What ever happened to Rob (name?) w/ the blue and white US Supra with the 3035's in it? I haven't seen him since I've been back.
I see that stickers painted his ride and got the Bee-R R34 front end on his R33. Looks sick, but those Vert doors are a little much, lol. He's come a long way. I saw a for sale sign on his car. Guess they are shipping him out.

As much as I would like to spend hours wrenching on a skyline, I just don't see how it's going to be entirely feasible, especially if I'm living in an apartment.
Does anyone have any tips on this? I know some answers will be, "Just make friends with a garage" or something of the sorts but how common is that? Are there places that will let you work on your car over the weekend as long as your out before business opens?

the atsugi base operator number is: (0468) 21-1944 if you dont have access to a base phone
the atsugi auto hobby shop on base number is: 264-3780 (this is the one you want, they have classes too, it is next to the HSL-51 hanger)
the atsugi autoport/garage is: 264-3726
Camp Zama also has an aafes garage:
1. Car Care Center
Bldg. 381
263-4046/5292
Garage 263-5292 Mon-Fri: 0700-1700/ Sat: 0900-1600/ Sun: Closed
Gas Station 263-4046 Mon-Fri: 0730-1800/ Sat-Sun: 0900-1700
the zama base operators number is: (0462) 51-1520 / 1788
Not sure where you are but there are also 2 other bases yokosuka, and yokota that may have garages
yokosuka: (0468) 21-1910 / 1944
yokota: (0425) 52-2511
Good luck!
I just moved back to Dallas in June, I was stationed on Zama for 3.5 years, DO NOT USE THEIR AAFES GARAGE!!!! Please, they are the biggest rip-off I have ever seen. They tried to convince me that because my radiator hose had a small 1" crack in it that I needed to replace the entire radiator....I laughed in his face. I wish I would have known I would be getting a G35 before I left, I would love to see what they have for these things layin around at upgarage...haha Where are you stationed? Yokosuka I assume?
And as for the workin on your car part, it sucks but you pretty much just have to make friends with the self help garage guys. Zama and Atsugis are both pretty good and if you're a regular it doesnt take long to get acquainted with them, then they'll start to hook you up.
That the truth
Yea That how i meet my aniki's for real just go to the shops hang out and ask alot of question when I went on vacation in June i went to my aniki's shop out in town i have not seen him in 3 years the first thing he did waz hit me on top of the head, gave me a hug and ask me what car i drive in the states i told him skyline 350GT he laughed and said i waz in luck he gave me 2engines and a transmission for my car
damn i miss my aniki's for real if my car waz in jp i would have all the parts i need for free or 1/4 the damn price
u pay too much in tthe states and no body will even rent out a garage for u its all about money in the states and in Nippon is all about who u know and make friends with trust me.

Yep, I'm in Yokosuka. The bays are cheap to rent on base. They let you keep the car in storage when they are closed as well (extra cost, but not much). They'll hook you up with discounts as well. Some of my friends have had thier cars there for weeks at a time and only get charged for one.
Going back to the states hurt me financially. It is going to be a little while before I get that debt paid off. Hence, no real mods for the car for about a year. Plus, we are looking at buying a house within the next year. So, yeah, modding is on the back burner. I just want to find a crew to hang out with (like I did in San Diego).
I don't see the Bippu crew on base anymore. I'm prolly going to hang out with the R.S.S. crew. It's a Japanese G35 sedan group out here. I can speak enough Japanese to get along with some of them, but hopefully thier are other english speaking people in the group
