2003 G35 Coupe Headlights.

I'm looking to pick up a 2003 G35 coupe -- it appears to be loaded with DVD Nav, Bose Premium audio system, aero package, alloy wheels, etc. However, nowhere in the description does the owner talk about the headlights. I want to know if the G35's come standard with Xenon/HID headlights, or is this an option?

TIA!

Yes the do come equipped with HIDs, however the 2003's housings are reflectors as supposed to the 2006's which are projectors.

i dont think they all did, i looked at mine and it look like just a hyper white blub, i turned my other lights on and they are normal white (yellowish) so i think the previous owner just switched the bulbs

Another Xeon headlight question

I used to have a 2003.5 M6 coupe. It had the standard Xeon headlights... I now have a 2003.5 sedan. I have the Premium package which also has the Xeon. I noticed when I hade the coupe that when the lights were set to "auto" the xeons would "know" when it was dark and would come on automatically. This was intended to save the life of the expensive Xeon light. BUT, my sedan doesn't seem to do this? Should it? The sedan is still under bumper to bumper warranty and i'm about to go in for the fuel hose recall so this could be a good time to get them to check this out.

I don't think it was for that reason...it was an optional position which allowed the sensor to decide when the headlights would turn on and off depending on the ambient light. A kind of built in saftey feature to prevent driving into night without having your lights on/off.

The problem with the auto setting is, if you go through a tunnel or an overpass, the lights would flicker on and off, which in my opinion is worse for the bulb.

The fact that the low beams function with the passing/highbeam switch is rediculous as well.....

If you worried about the bulbs, keep the auto switch off and turn them on manually.

Exactly. Poor design on Infiniti's part. My 03 Maxima had the exact same set-up.

Is there anyway to just change the housing for the 03 coupes so we get the projector,or would it be the whole thing.

plenty of people have swapped out their 03-05 housings for 06+ housings with projectors. direct swap (plug and play)
