Turn signal bulbs

I was wondering what the color of the actual signal bulb is, since my friend's gonna clear out the amber signal. Is the actual bulb amber too, or is it clear? (FYI its an 03 G coupe, in case it makes a difference)

it's clear the 03-05 housing already have the color filter[amber color] on the housing.
06+ comes with amber bulbs.

1+

Thats one reason why I love the 06 headlight housing.

The projectors, and slight modification of the turn signals from previous years make it look so classy.

I just wished it had the clearance strip.

turn signal bulbs:

7440 = single filament for 06+ lights

7443 = dual filament for 03-05 lights

The lamp replacement guides that I've looked up (both on sylvania.com and at Pep Boys) said the bulb type is 7440 for 03 G coupe.

i noticed that, too.

sylvania also used to list 06 coupes has d2r bulbs

03-05 headlights use a dual filament bulb as they are both parking lights and blinkers. 06+ headlights use these bulbs as blinkers only and only need the single filament function.

andrew (extreme4377), drewthesuit, and myself have 06 headlights with 7440 bulbs for our turn signals. mike (imalazeeass) used to have 7440 bulbs for 06 housings, too. i think that is evidence enough that 06+ lights use 7440. now i just have to find people that use 7443 in their 03-05 lights. ugh, i'm lazy

okay, as said by caskyline who does a lot of headlight mods and knows his stuff...

here he acknowledges that 03-05 lights use dual filaments...

^+1 i tried to put my old turn signal bulbs, came from my 04headlight, on my 06 headlight but they can't fit on my 06. they have different base.
the old one is 7443 and 06+ 7440. i pretty sure about that.

Dammit...then why would lamp replacement guides list 7440...and by the way, sylvania has D2S for 2006.

Anyway, so I guess a 7440 wouldn't work in 03 model, right? I wouldn't care if the parking light didnt work and just the signal did, but it seems like everyone's saying it won't work (or maybe even fit).

Me and my friend bought these 7440 bulbs for his car yesterday...they were pretty hard to find in the first place. I guess now we'll have to go back.
