Headlight Question Part2

So last time i asked everyone told me that i was able to pick up a pair of 06+ headlights for my 03 G35 so i can have the projector beam and they wont develope that yellow crust.

So i started looking on ebay and i have seen numerous pairs for sale but without the ballast or bulbs. THey are considerably cheaper of course but i dont know if not having the ballast or bulb from the 06 light will look as good or be able to switch it out with the 03 ballast and bulb that i currently have stock with the 03.

You can use the ballast. If you want to use your D2R bulbs you will need to scrape off the ceramic coating on the bulb and mod the base a little.

You could just clean your current lights. The yellow crust is usually just dirt that can be removed with a good plastic cleaner.

Here's a link to just about the best priced pair of new bulbs (OEM) that I've found:

Philips 5000K bulbs

Those Philips bulbs are actually the exact same thing as OEM bulbs. They're not really 5000K, more like 4200K. The model number on those "5000K" bulbs are identical to the ones in our stock projectors.

most of the headlights ordered off ebay are coming with the wiring and bulbs in all spots...the only part you need in them is...this pictured below which is the ballast. You dont even need the wiring that comes with it...here are the ones i picked up.

part you need:

Not all of the lights in the 03 are compatible with the 06. The HID, turn signal and fog lights are all different.

your wrong man. The ballast is the bottom part of the headlight that i have pictured above that has one wire that runs from it that makes the HID that we have on our cars....the other foglight wiring and turn signal wiring is another who set that is connected to the outside plug on the ballast. The ballast is only the one wire that is connected on the inside plug that runs up inside of the headlight into our low beam that uses the D2r or D2s bulb.

to the poster above you can reuse any ballast from any 03-07 headlight. They are all the same.

for those of you confused here you go....any ballast can be used for D2r and D2s bulbs. The plug on the outside of the ballast is the same from 03-07.

Comparison...

Just ballast, ignitor, and bulb.

foglight, turnsignal, and clearance stip wiring...

Assembled ballast with everything need for light.

I think he was referring to just the bulbs, in case the OP purchased a set without any bulbs. 06's can only reuse the clearance bulb from the 03 headlights, and the d2r bulbs, but those require modifications. New lowbeam d2s, foglight H1's, and turn signal 7440 need to be purchased if they are not included
