Front side marker as the Turn Signal

Has anyone ever moded the fron side marker as the turn signal?
The downside, I think, is that you no longer had a side marker (no light from the side) until you change lanes/turn....just looking to see if this can/was done on the coupe.

yes search, there is a do it yourself thread with pictures that looks somewhat easy to do. It shows it step by step and the supplies needed.

You should be able to wire up the side bumper lights so that they stay on as usual, and then blink with the usual sidemarkers.

Yes, I've done it to my car using the above DIY that RST531 linked. I forgot about that mod, even though I have it. lol

You need to splice a wire.

Thanks, I just did this on my car about an hour.

I didn't remove the wheels or use the extension wire. It's much cleaner IMO!

Here are my DIY:
  1. Jag up the car (you don't need to removed the wheels!)
  2. Remove all 5 plastic lug nuts using flat screwdriver
  3. Remove all 8 screws from underneath the bumper connecting the Wheel Well Lining.
  4. CAREFULLY, pop out 2 plastic log nuts holding from the bottom of the lining in place.
  5. Once all remove, loosen Wheel Well Lining & remove it off the car so that you can see the cables/wires
  6. On the main lighting wire harness (look just behind the headlights, and you'll see a bunch of colored wires), carefully cut the plastic tape that covers the main light wire harness & the side marker wire harness using a sharp blade.
  7. Once removed, you will see the side marker wires (Black & Purple) and all the headlights wire harness.
  8. Now cut the Black side marker wire next to the headlights wire harness and make sure you cut it closer to the wire that you will need to clam it together with.
    • For Passenger side: purple wire with a white stripe
    • For Driver side: green wire with a white stripe
  9. Before you put everything back on, test the lights.
  10. Once everything works fine, you can put them all back.
  11. Repeat for the other side.
Good luck!

2K6G35, I have a question on step #8. When you tap the black side marker wire to the purple/green wire, how exactly is that done? Is it done by wire splice or with a wire tap device? I'm bit of a novice in electrical work but I like to be able to tackle this project on my car.

They charge quite a bit but they do an excellent job.
You can keep one row on with your parking lights and another row that will function as a blinker.
If you don't want the hyper white, I'm sure you could ask them to make two rows of amber, parking lights to be dim and signal lights to be bright.

You could attempt to make your own.

You just tap it with this

You can get it from Homedepot or Radioshack for $0.10 /each

I didn't see Dofu's post above. He beat me to it.

How can you make the Turn Signal and the Side Marker alternating Lamps?

They automatically do that if you use the 6MT write-up.
