quad retro attempt

Hello everyone,

I decided to post some pics of my quad retro attempt. So far things are going good and I cant thank IvoryGT enough for all his help. The guy is a class act and answered my questions along the way. I am going at a slow pace but thats because I want to get things right. Right now, I finished modding the G35 projectors. The mods made were a TSX clear lense and a modded shield (Ivory's colormod DIY) Here are some pics, pics taken were inside my parents house. I couldnt take far away and wide pics because the furthest point was through the hallway and that proved to be too narrow to take pics. Therefore I could only take pics of the center cutoff.

Any critique and pointers are welcome from all the HID gods in this forum.

This shot is about 33ft away

other projector with shield mod and clear lense (this one needs a little more tweaking)

about 33ft away

Congrats on your work so far. It is a fun project, takes a lot of time but well worth it in the long run.

OMGosh I got a response!

I was wondering why I had so many views but no responses.

I am still not done working on the headlights. I have one pretty much done but I need a little more work. I am going to have a G35 with clear TSX lense mod at the top (aka single xenon) and a (Bi-xenon) Acura TL/ZKW replica on the bottom or foglight area.

Thanks ttrank, I do have to admit that I got a kick out of color modding them.

Well guys, I finally got some parts in but I am still awaiting some more parts in order to finish the project. This waiting for parts is making me very impatient.

I managed to convince my girlfriend to allow me to hack into her old computer that she doesnt use anymore and make a power supply. I was glad that it actually worked because I was getting tired of using car batteries.

Well here are some pics of my TL Bixenons with ZKW replicas. I know, I know, they are not the original ZKW lenses but they are just as clear. The TL projectors are different, one has a slant cut off and the other is the vertical step cut off. For some reason the cutoffs dont appear to be razor sharp and I am getting a yellow spectrum for the cutoffs.

The pics are from about 23-25 ft away, I havent modded the TL's I just swapped the lenses. Anybody feel this cutoff should be sharper or is it just me? It does appear to get sharper as I am further away. Should I do some shield bending to sharpen? I think I am going to have to post a shot of the cut off at 50ft+ away. They are brighter than my G35 w/ tsx lense.

Anyhow, on to the pics.

Slant TL/ZKW replica @ 24ft.

Step Up TL/ZKW replica @ 24ft.

Step Up TL/ZKW replica @ 24ft. (close up)

Just for comparison:

G35 w/TSX clear lense swap+modded shield @ 24ft. Notice:Ring effect on roof

Good start, but you have alot of work to do still. Those TL's should be sharp with a thin purple band at 25ft. Looks like those replica ZKW's didn't work out too well. I would consider going back to the stock lenses. As for the TSX-g35's, your cutoff is way out of focus, try adjusting the shield some more and rotating the lense, the cutoff gradient should be more even across the band.

Thanks redlude,

It will be much easier to perfect with that power supply. Going to be up all night tonight .

I thought the tsx looked pretty good, but your right should be more focused.

tweak the shield slightly you'll get the sharpness with the TLs.

Ok, I am going to give it a shot because those ZKW replicas blow the frensal TL lenses. The output is much more brighter.
