'04 Sedan 3rd breaklight not functioning.
Sorry, I couldn't think of the proper name for the 3rd break light that sits in the low middle part of the back window.
But for whatever reason it's stopped functioning on my '04 G35 Sedan.
Not sure if this has come up here before and is a known problem that happens or if there are easier places to look at the connections without taking the trunk interior below the sub-woofer out first.
I'm figuring (hoping) the connection has just come loose as they are LED's and not bulb(s).
Any ideas?

Yes this happens often on the 03-04 sedans. It happened to my 03. The problem has been inside of the actual lamp assembly, with either the LEDs burning out or the diodes going bad. Some folks have fixed the problem by disassembling the lamp and either solder in some new diodes/leds, or buy purching a new lamp assembly. I just added a factory replica spoiler with the LED brake lamp. You could probably search and find the previous discussion in the sedan section. Oh, and the proper term is 'center high-mount stop lamp' (CHML), or commonly 'third brake lamp'.
I had the same problem with my 03 sedan. The solution is to replace or fix the LED assembly in the rear window, under the rear shelf. Unfortunately, you have to remove the rear seat and the rear shelf to get at it. A couple hours work to get it out and the same to put it back in.
If only the diode on the little circuit board is burned out, you can replace it for under a dollar, if you are able to work with electronic circuits, soldering components, etc. Mine was a burned out LED, so I bought a replacement part from EverythingNissan.com. About $100. The new part has only 2 LEDs instead of the six on your old part, but it works just fine.
The dealer wanted close to $400 for the repair. Screw that!

Thanks folks. Sounds like a flaw in the design somewhere.
The only time I've seen LED's burn out is by overdriving them (current wise). Hoping it would be more of a connection issue but will get them out and see what I can do.

I have the same problem. The 3rd brake light works intermittently - it does work more often than it doesn't though. Often, when it is not functioning, simply releasing the trunk makes the light come on. Simple - though annoying - temrporary fix. When this happens it is impossible to troubleshoot.
When the trunk release did not make the LED brake light illuminate, I would always get it to work by fiddling with the connector between the harness and the bulb (connector B116 on page LT-132 in the Service Manual. You can touch it by placing a finger in the cut-out for the Trunk light, the connector is on the left.
So, I cut out that connector and butt-spliced the wires. I was hopeful, but the problem persists...

I can't tell you why releasing the trunk makes the Brake light work. Two guesses are that the momentary voltage drop has an effect, or the slight vibration. Nxxt time it happens I will try turning on the rear defroster or high beams to test the voltage theory...
