LED for backups? The style I got doesn't work

I bought some led's from vleds and the ones I got for the backup lights are bright but they don't face the rear when installed in the taillight Here's the bulb I bought http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...32235246235248

Since it faces down when installed in the taillight it doesn't shine worth a crap. What are you guys using?

I'm using these:

http://www.ledlight.com/detail.aspx?ID=176

Had to hot glue the bulbs into the socket because they are too top heavy and kept falling out whenever I closed the trunk.

I think IvoryGT's suggestions would work great if the 4 front firing LEDs were the same 1/2 watt High Power LEDs that the radial LEDs are made of. Why V-Leds decided to make the 4 front firing LEDs "standard" brightness is anybody's guess.

I thought LEDs couldn't make the reverse lights bright enough? I kept reading somewhere that stock is the best. everything else is just for looks...

Sticking 3 3-5W luxeon stars in the housing would work best. That is not a plug and play solution though.

Please post your results! Not sure how handy you are with a digital camera, but you'd be the man if you could post before and after shots using the same fstop, shutter speed, angle, and time of day pics.

But not of the car, rather the light thrown behind it. Sort of like this, except with your taillights and the car against a garage door or something:

It'd be a two person job though.
