Need info with HID Bulb Replacement

I want to replace my stock HID headlights. Can I just replace the bulbs with a higher output bulbs like the 10,000K HID bulbs? Or do I need to replace the ballasts as well?

10,000k bulbs aren't higher output, they are actually alot worse than stock

most people will go with a 6000k setup because it is a very white color output

Ah ok...But but back to my question..if I want to replace the stock HID bulbs, do I need to replace the ballast as well or can I use the stock ballast if I want to change it to a different setup?

If you just change out the bulbs, you do not need to change the ballst.

6000k is a good choice

Change just the bulb, depending on your headlight, (projector or not) it'll be a D2s or D2r, D2c's work in either... 6000k is very white, 8000k is blue anything passed that is retarded...

Sorry to threadjack, but I've been searching for an hour. I'm finding all sorts of posts about bulb types, but can anyone tell me what color the stock HID's for an '08 are? I've seen some people putting aftermarket 6000k bulbs in, so my guess would be 4500k or so?

Thanks in advance...and sorry if I just overlooked an obvious thread.

is there a way for me to check if its my ballast or is it my bulbs that is fried?

my car has 45000 miles... the driver side bulb didn't lit when i turn on my headlights.

i don't want to buy the bulbs and figure out i need the ballast instead. or i want to make sure its not my wires being messed up or i hope if its the fuse, it can be something easier, where do i access the fuse?
