rothnic can let me know if the fx-r projectors have the same mounting points as the oem g35 projectors, i would really like to be able to reuse 2 out of the 3 spots from the reflector...in the long run it might be easier to buy those then search for a pair of used g35 projectors

As much as I'd like them to, I don't see it happening since the fx-r is just a reverse engineered g35 projector without the extra metal for the application specific mounting.

It looks like the stand off brackets like shown by the OP will be the way to go. I'm going to experiment using the cutting board plastic to make them since it is still very stiff but easier to work with and very cheap.

Also, I just read the discussion on wiring. This will be the same as my sv650 that I retrofitted. The H4 hi/lo light is basically two bulbs in one, so when you go from the fog to high beams the fog goes off and the high is engaged. So you need to use a wiring harness that provides power to the ballast even when the high beam is engaged, which will also engage the solenoid. The easy solution is to get this harness off ebay:

So for this setup you only used 1 ballast per side correct?

I think you add 1 per side, then you can use the stock two for the low beams with new D2S bulbs to replace the D2R. 4 total ballasts.

Everything rothnic said was spot on.

FX-R won't line up with the mounting points UNLESS you develop your own conversion for it. Sourcing g35 projectors made the top two mounts much less of a headache on the lower projector.

For the hi-beam switch thing, I never finished wiring mine up to keep the "fogs" (aka lower projector) powered, but I bought the KP technologies foglight module to solve the problem.

Last, yeah like rothnic said there are 2 ballasts per side in my setup for a total of 4. All of mine are bi-xenon so once I hook the foglight module up to have control of it, when I hit the brights all 4 lights will be used.

^^^that's what i figured about the fx-r projectors but i was really hoping they would....anyways, let the hunt begin....also visibiliti did you take apart the g35 projectors, i would like to paint the heat shield but have heard that some shields have the solenoids attached and can be more hassle than it is worth to mess with it?

Its very easy to paint g35 projectors . Sheilds and selenoids come out real easy . Think it was one screw and unhook the shield . I did mine blue and colormodded the shield as well as tsx clear lenses . I didnt even remove the selenoid when i painted . I just removed the lens and taped it off so the back portion didnt get sprayed . It looks sick at some angles and unnoticable at others

Cool pic i took of different shrouds but you can see the blue

I love the black painted housings, except I don't know how I feel about them for silver cars(which i have). I might just be leaving mine the stock dark chrome color unless someone has a suggestion.

Today i tore into my quad setup, and managed to get all 4 fx-r's mounted. I will have to make a thread to share how I attached them to the stock bracket. Tomorrow comes the fun of trimming the housings to fit over the projectors.

the04coupe- dude those lights are SICK!! I like em alot. Can you describe more which part you painted blue? I am a little confused. You didn't paint the inside of the projector bowl blue did you? Do you have any pics of what is blue while the lens is not in front?

rothnic- AHhh I am very interested to see how you mounted the FX-Rs... def get those pics up soon whether in a new thread or here! And.. GOOD LUCK trimming the housings. That was one of my most hated parts, because I only had one spare shroud to "practice" on- and then after that, it was just sack up and be careful because any small mistake would basically ruin everything...

ahhh, good news at last...easy painting for the cutoff shields and crossing fingers hopefully have a line on some oem projectors...this will be my first attempt at a retrofit and honestly wouldn't have even tried without the help of many on here...still nervous about fitting the shrouds for the lower projector and prpoerly spacing the clear lenses...also might hack up the housing on my 06s to accommodate the oem clearance strip lens from the 03s...worst part is knowing all the details you want and being unsure if you have the parts/craftmanship to see it come to fruition...wish me luck
