Turn Indicator Bulb Type?

Ok, I know this has been covered before because I found the answer in a thread about two years ago. I am wondering what kind of bulb I can use to replace the turn indicator bulb in the headlight. I have a 2006 coupe and want a bulb that, when on, is amber, but is clear when off. I don't like how you can see the orange reflecting in the headlight when the bulb is off. Anyone know where I can order some?

OP: There are numerous LED clusters out there that are clear when off and light up amber. Of course, if you switch to one of these you usually have to employ some sort of resistor or else your car doesn't "think" a bulb is there and will blink super fast as if the bulb is burnt out. One xample of a site that sells these types of LED clusters is VLEDS

What? The H1 bulb you are referring to is the fog light in 06+ headlights. The OP is asking about the turn signal bulb.

ElixXxeR - you are looking for 7440 bulbs, not to be confused with 7443 (they look exactly the same). The 7440 bulbs are single filament bulbs, which is what the 06+ headlights require. 03-05 headlights use that same bulb as both parking lights and turn signals, so they require a dual filament bulb to carry out both functions.

You can order the bulbs you are looking for here:

^^^note that you will need to order two, as these do not come in pairs

http://www.stealthauto.com/Products/...SBCA-7440.aspx

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/7440-...819166005r4174

Or you can simply paint your stock bulbs like this:

I applied the same method to my side marker bulbs. Here is a before/after.

redlude97 applied the same method to his turn signal bulbs.

If you go the DIY route and paint them, make sure to mask off the contact points so that you don't cover them in paint.
