How long did it take you to make this in terms of hours?

took about 5 hours and I'm good with soldering. Not going to do a DIY, this isn't really DIY material. I do suggest looking for post by me and accordfreak and get some knowledge in electronics before you start.

I've been working with LED's and electronics for around 8 years now. I don't know how someone with out even a year of experience would be comfortable with touching their car's sensitive electronics before testing on many other things (which would remove the need for a DIY)

cut a hole in the front display cover (the orange one) and glue on stage lighting filters in front to whatever color you want.

I agree with SexyRob. I don't recommend a DiY because you might fry your console if you don't have experience. I'm an engineer student and know a lot about electrical components. It took me a day to do on and off. Some led's were dim and had to be replaced. Ill post pictures soon

thanks to op and accordfreak. had to dremel out the amber part of the cover and purchased a smoke pink and a "minus green" pink film as the display on the 03-04's light up green after the amber is cut out. my display is now white..

after seeing what you did will LEDS on door, i decided to try it too...i used blue LED's instead since my exterior color is brilliant silver and thought blue would look a little better...check out some posted pics at

I was thinking about switching mine to white and found a site to obtain them from,
Oznium
Saw that the reds and whites have different operational specs.
Have you noticed any circuit issues with the varying voltage requirements?

I have not. they are regulated lower than the operating specs of normal leds, however they seem to produce enough light at the voltage provided.
