As long as you follow the instructions on the DIY here I'm sure you should be fine... a LOT of people have done this when painting their lights.

Only thing that worries me is putting them back together. I guess you would have to get some type of glue or something?

Unfortunately, mine were very yellow as the picture shows. I baked the headlights open, then used PlastX to clean up the clearance strip. It helped, but not enough to justify the time and effort put forth. Would you say yours are more or less yellow than the picture I posted?

mine are almost same yellow as the pic you posted and is possible to just take the yellow plastic out since if i baked open my headlight ill be putting a led strip there instead of a bulb so it lights all the strip all the way down.

Yours look great! The driver is a little yellow though, you can try cleaning it. Yours might be easier to restore. Mine were beyond salvageable lol

My headlights look exactly like the posted pics. I baked them last weekend, and pulled out the "jagged" piece of plastic that illuminates the clearance strip. It is a thick, solid chunk of plastic with ridges on the face.

The thing was visibly yellow. It appears to just yellow over time. If you have one that isn't yellow, it is probably because the headlight was replace at some point.

I'm not sure of a good way to restore it yet. But maybe I'll get motivated and try sanding the thing with 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper, and then polishing it. That's a lot of work though... remove bumper, remove lights, bake, split, disassemble, sand, polish, then do it all again in reverse.

Motivation might be the fact that new (not refurbished) OEM 03-05 headlights are about $600 a pop from what I found.

$600 lol where you found that crazy price for reflector with $500 you could get 06 headlights with projectors instead.

Thanks Alex305. I am aware that 06-07 headlights are significantly less expensive than the 03-05 headlights, and that they may be purchased with the appropriate amount of money. I assure you that was never in questions. I must commend you on your spectacular ability to point out the obvious.

However, it appears your perception my be not quite as uncanny. This thread is not about if it is possible to purchase the 06-07 headlights. It is about the 03-05 clearance strip. Additionally, I never said I was willing to pay $1200 to get a set of new OEM 03-05 headlights. In fact my intention was to imply the opposite.

Thanks for weighing in thought!

No more yellow.

Got some clean used 05 lights off of ebay for $450. I payed to much, and they showed up with one of the tabs cracked... but the seller was cool enough to refund $50 for that. I took the light to my dealer and they epoxied the tab for the free free. It should be alright for a while.

I'm planning a amber/white LED strip blinker/clearance mod, but here are some pics on the clean lights with some 6000k single LED 194s in the clearance strip and clear corner.

Oh, and don't trash my base model wheels. I'm working on it.

You definitely over paid. For $450 you couldve bought some used projectors.
