The lens is still there but the diffuser is not.

You'll just look into a black whole behind the lens if you remove that piece.

A diffuser is used to "diffuse" the light. Look at florescent light covers, those are there to spread the light out instead of being concentrated.

trying to think wat can i do with the clearance strip when its yellow since it cant be cleaned and i dont want 06 lights nor do i want to do the whole led thing. but the yellowing is really irritating. maybe jus tint it or paint it flat black.

You can remove the clearance strip defuser (seen in the pic in post #59 by 4DGS), and put something behind the lens instead, like a piece of fluorescent light cover (or something similar).

You could paint the lens like this...

I know this is an old thread but figured I'd bump it as I'm sure there are a few of us left with 03-05 headlights. I was looking into getting some LED's for my clearance strip again tonight and ran across this thread while searching... It reminded me why I hadn't updated my lights already. I'm too much of a chicken to try baking my lights to do this myself... but for anyone brave enough to do so with the older lights, might I recommend the following for cleaning yellowed Clearance Strips...

I have not done this myself, however doing a quick search will yield it's positive results. This stuff can turn a very yellowed grey videogame console back to brand new looking condition with a little effot. I see little reason why it wouldn't work on the clearance strips. If anyone tried it let us know the results...

Check that Ish out... Treated On the Left Untreated on the Right.
