I have to assume you are just being facetious with that statement.

If I wanted projectors I would have bought them. Projectors appear to be more readily available than reflectors. In fact, it was easy to find a set of brand spankin' new projectors (w/o ballasts) for $550 shipped.

Turns out, I wanted the reflectors without yellow clearance strips, which is why I bought these. A good clean used set of 03-05 model headlights were not easy to find.

Thanks dude. That's what I was hoping for.

I still have the lights with the yellow strips, and I plan on using them to mod. When I open them up I'm going to see if there is anything I can do to eliminate the yellow.

I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do in the way of mods yet. Paint, LED strpis, clear blinker, etc... It's all a lot of work and I don't have a lot of time these days, so we'll see how long it takes me to get it done.

I've tossed around a few ideas. One thought was to make the blinker, side marker, and clearance strip behave like the Audi A4 DRL/blinker. They would be white (6000K) unless the blinker was in use, which would turn the DRL off and blink amber instead. I'm not sure how I would wire that yet, but I think that would be pretty sick. We'll see.

That is a very very nice set of 03-05 lights you have there. It is still in my mod list to have a clearance strip fabricated into my 06+ projectors. the clearance strip is hella sick around sunset/night time! If anyone discovers a way to clean up the clearance strip please post it up! I'm sure there are tons of people who would find that information useful.

^ it hollow, but there isn't a tonne of space to work with. You'll need to pull the headlights out in order to do it, that's for sure.

Damn i would have sold you mine which where opened and painted black for 200. You got hosed lol. Theres a guy selling projectors on here for 400 shipped to your door. You need to stop being so snoody to the other people on the site and you might get pointed to the deals on here.

You can remove the jagged edge and put a led rope in there it has a clear cover piece over it. Or drill out some small holes and fill with your own leds and some epoxy to hold it tight. Possibilities are endless but i would look into projectors as they are actually better for driving because they are so much brighter. Dont waste your money modding the reflector headlights unless you just want to paint them.

Wow, talk about being "snoody." Listen, if I come across a little smart mouthed, it wouldn't be the first time in my life.

But seriously, this thread is about 03-05 model headlamp clearance strip yellowing. I get that the projectors are much more popular among most G drivers, but folks just keep posting that the answer is to go get some 06-07 headlamps. C'mon...

As far as me getting "hosed," thanks for rubbing it in...

The thing is that my G is a 2005, and I want to preserve it's integrity if that makes any sense. I scoured the net and forums for a good deal on a like new set of reflectors for a while, but for the sake of expediency I pull the trigger on the auction. Next time I need a deal on something, I'll be sure to hit you up!!!

BTW... the LEDs are on the way. Once I bust into this mod, I let you guys know if I find a way to negate the yellowing.

I give up... Nothing I've tried has had an effect on "yellowness" of the god forsaken clearance strip in my old light. I'm doubting it's possible to reverse or remedy the yellowing. Sorry, I tired.

Ok this is just a idea. Anyone who knows better, feel free to chime in.

What about soaking it in bleach?? Since there is no real way to clean up the actual clearance strip (jagged piece) by hand. Just an idea.
