Flickering Left HID Headlight

Hey guys, I switched my headlight bulbs because my right headlight went out, but the bulb wasn't the problem. I found out some water got into my ballast. I let it drip out and let it sit in the sun. Then it started working again.

I painted my headlights flat black with gloss and when I hooked it back up, my left headlight wasn't working anymore. It flickers when I try to turn it on. Before I painted my headlight, my left light was working perfectly.

I tried checking if all the cables were plugged tightly 3 times, but still nothing.
Any ideas?

IIRC Flickering HID bulbs is a pretty good sign that they need to be replaced...

when the HID's flicker and don't turn on they are blown. If you just purchased them, they should come with a warranty. Most common is 1 year. There are HID bulbs on Ebay now that have a lifetime warranty.

you probably bought bad bulbs, check all your fuses, I was doing custom work on my headlights as well one time, and accidentally blew a few fuses which resulted in my headlights acting weird and also my taillights and interior lights not working.

The culprit in my case was bad bulbs which drew different wattage than the OEM, thus causing a short and blowing a few fuses.

There are 3 fuse boxes to look for, one right next to the clutch or brake, one next to the battery, and the last one is tricky, it's hidden above the battery in a closed hard to find compartment.

Do they flicker with the car running or off? If you're flickering while running, it's possibly a bad bulb. If it's flickering on battery only, you could have a weak battery not supplying enough voltage to keep the ballast ignited.

both, it flickers while the car is on or off. I'll change to my OEM bulbs, if it still works i'll hit up the guy I bought it from.

ive had a fair amout of ecperience with g hls, im going to guess and say its your ballast,if the right had water in it whose to say the left ddint get wet as well. easy way to fix a ballast thats been exposed to moisture is this: get a sandwich bag(ziplock brand) get plain white rice, place ballast in bag, then cover ballast with the rice. ensure the ballast is completely covered, then make sure all the air is out of the bag...let the ballast sit in there for about 2 days..or as long as possible. id do this to both of them

the rice removes ALL moisture, sounds ghey but this will work, also works on cell phones
