Replace OEM HID kit w/ Aftermarket HID kit.

Im planning to change my OEM HID kit in my 05 coupe to an aftermarket HID because my light output w/ aftermarket 8000k bulbs is very weak. I compared it to my friends Sentra w/ aftermarket HID's and his 8000k was so much brighter and it was only a 35w kit ebay kit. Can someone help me out with this? Could it be my light bulb or my ballast not providing enough power to the bulb.

Someone told me on the forums that the stock ballast for the G35 is very weak and isnt accommodating to the aftermarket HID bulb i put in. Did anyone else have this problem and will i need to change out my whole kit or just my ballast?

thanks in advance guys!

I had 8000k with stock ballasts and are fine for me. I dont think there is a difference in companies where their balasts (35w) will be brighter only if you switch to 55 w then it will be brighter. I just changed to 10000k and I luv them. Where did you get the 8000k bulbs?

Where did you get your bulbs from?

Is brightness really effected if you switch how many watts the ballast has?

the stock HIDs are wired into the headlights.. so you'll need to play around with the wires to use an aftermarket hid.

Best bet is to buy a used oem ballast off ebay.

Make sure its the ballast and not the bulb because it usually is the bulb acting up rather than the ballast.
