Exclamation 06 projectors not plug an play?!

I just spent 4 hours TRYING to install the 06 projectors on my 04. It took me a long time to pull the bumper down. After I got the headlights off I took out the ballast, and on the other side of the ballast there was a connector. I think it was going to the HID bulb. In the 06 there is no connector to plug into that part on the ballast.

Just to be clear, there is a gray connector outside of the ballast which comes from the main harness. When you take the screws off the ballast to take it off, inside there is a brownish-orange connector. The 06 projectors don't have that. I opened the housing behind the HID on the 06 projector and I see a connector in there, but it is already connected to the main harness.

I thought maybe the 06 projectors didn't need it or it was re-routed a different way so I plugged the outside gray connector to the ballast and then I connected the main harness. I turned on my lamps and only the city lights came on. I thought maybe you need both headlights plugged in, so I plugged in both 06 lamps, and still only the city lights came on. So WTF is going on? I thought the 04 to 06 was a straight plug and play? I'm a little ticked right now .

I put the old 04 lights on and all the lights come on. I loosely put everything back on so I can take it back off faster. Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks

pix to show what you're talking about exactly. the main connector is the same. the connector for the ballasts are the same. the brown plug for the ballast is the harness that goes to the bulb connection. if your 06 lights didnt have the ballast or the harness just simply swap it out....you'll have to fish that bulb connector harness through the headlight tho.

ppics would definetly help, but yes 06 projectors are direct plug n play for your non projector headlights. just switch the ballasts from your o4 and install them on the 06 projectors. did you 06 projectors come with bulbs?

It is a plug and play. Pics are needed to try to figure out what your exact problem is. Also info on whether you bought the projectors new or used?

I have an 05 Coupe and did the swap to 06-07 headlights this weekend with no problem. Should be plug and play (removed ballast and cable from your old set and put it on your new one) Make sure you have bulbs in the new one and you should be good to go.
