Modded Dome/Map Light
The stocked map/dome lamp was never enough for me when I try to find dropped coins or small items at night. Besides it butt ugly incandescent color (4300K). I've tried the PIAA Xtreme Super White 19223, but the only good it did was filter out all non-blue lights. This was actually dimmer than the stocked to my eye.
So I made my own what do you guys think? I will be making 10x available for G35 members who are interested in experimenting .
=== LED Benefits ===
- Increased efficiency and lowered power consumption. (4W vs 10W)
- Increased brightness (80 lumens of directional lighting vs 50 lumens of scattered lights)
You loose 60% of the light for lighting up the top housing when using halogens.
- Pure WHITE! Not even Xenon/HID is this white.
- Lifetime reliability baby! (10000+ hrs before light output decrease to less than 70%)
=== Parts List ===
- LED driver (700mA)
- Lux3T LED
- Acrylic rod
- Artic Alumina adhesive
- Nylon 24g wires
- 1/16" aluminum sheet
- Mag OAD lamp housing for parts
=== Installation ===
1. Use Flat head screw driver to remove the cover.
2. Insert the acrylic rod to the bulb housing. Make sure the positive end is pointed toward the back of the car.
3. Install the CC5WA driver to the side of the rod.
4. Gently push the heat sink with LuxIII LED into place.
5. Re-attach the cover and you're done!
=== Beam Shots ===

Re: Modded Dome/Map Light
I'd like to order 4~ I need to find out how to wire these to the rear seats as well. I know people don't sit back there often, but there is ZERO lights in the back, which is ridiculous. How much would they cost? PLMK.
btw: I have gone through PIAA extreme and several LED products as well, and none of them are anywhere as bright as what you have. Looks like the luxeons are the way to go.
