Lightbulb Extreme White Lighting

I've finally nailed down the electronics for the Luxeon (xtreme white). For those who previously expressed interest.

https://g35driver.com/forums/lighting/37370-modded-dome-map-light.html=== Original Thread on Luxeon Lighting ===

=== LED Benefits ===
- Increased efficiency and lowered power consumption. (3W vs 10W)
- Increased brightness (80 lumens of directional lighting vs 50 lumens of scattered lights)
You loose 60% of the light for lighting up the top housing when using halogens.
- Pure WHITE! Not even Xenon/HID is this white.
- Lifetime reliability baby! (10000+ hrs before light output decrease to less than 70%)

Here's the package that I offer for those who need more than what PIAAs gives. If you're interested please post here and send me a PM.

=== Package #1 - Map/Dome TurnKey ($90) ===
Description: complete assembly for G35 Coupe or Sedan front Dome/Map lights
- 2x current regulated circuits (700mA)
- 2x Luxeon III LEDs

- 2x modified bulb plugins
- assembled and tested

=== Package #2 - Rear Lights TurnKey ($90) ===
Description: complete assembly for G35 Sedan rear lights

Is there any way to fit these Luxeons into the clearance stripe? Is there a minimum size for the aluminum heat sink?

It depends on how hard you drive the light.
For the rear seats I'm using a 1"x2" (2cm x 4cm) heat sink for driving it to 380mA.
You could easily fabricate a one for the clearance light. The luxeon itself will fit inside the bulb socket.

Would you consider making something for the Door Step lights as well?

$90 is kinda steep for this kinda upgrade thou....

I'm currently working on the Door Step light and Trunk light, they should be a lot cheaper.
The door step will be using ultra-bright 5mm LEDs which should run < $20/door. While the trunk will be using 3x luxeon with a constant voltage regulator for < $50.

Here the price breakdown of the cost for me.
$22 - constant current regulator
$03 - constant voltage regulator
$10 - Luxeon III LED
$17 - Premium Luxeon III LED

The $$$ I make is on package #1 & #2 which are $20 for assembly, testing & liability ...

You could purchase these directly from Lumineds, Digikey, and Newark if you prefer. It should come out to the same $$$.
