Telcoman is definitely an electrician / engineer of some sort. The Wheatstone bridge isn't something that is taught in "electronics 101", but like most of my professors in physics, it seems like he wants to guide the OP to the right direction and see if the OP, or anyone else in this matter, can figure out the rest.

dunno if the OP got his answer. but i did this too with no drain issues. my reason for the light staying on is due to the fact that LEDs have so low resistance. there is always current running through the socket because it doesnt matter for regular bulbs. they wont show any light with the resistance they have. LED's however will light up with barely any energy.

if it bothers you just flip the "on with door open" switch which seems to be a mechanical switch that opens the circuit. i usually just leave that switch off and voila. no ghosting
