Quick question. When retrofitting OEM 06, are resistors required? I have halo LED strip around the low beam shroud and individual LEDs on the clearance strip. Halos work fine with no issues but LEDs on clearance strip worked for maybe an hour and died on both sides at different times. Before they died they went through a stage of flickering. I've already had the LEDs examined and they are bad. But my question is why. I've already replaced them twice. No more replacing I want answers.

 

Resistors are required 100% of the time you are dealing with led's. They are designed for such a minimal ohmage that they need resistance in order to keep their life.
Always buy resistors with led's, either separate or presoldered together.
