oem ballasts vs aftermarket ballasts vs headlights

oem ballasts vs aftermarket ballasts vs headlights
Does anyone know if there is a better ballast than the stock OEM ballasts? I've been looking at a couple aftermarket ballasts on ebay but I'm not sure if they would work with the oem headlight housings. Anyone have any feedback on aftermarket headlights/stock headlights with stock ballasts or aftermarket? Which is better?
