2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan Headlight Bulbs

Hey guys

So I recently got some car radio work done. A day later, I noticed my left headlight was out. I'm not sure if it's related but I thought I'd include this in case you guys know.

Anyways, if I turn the headlights on, the right one turns on perfectly. The left one, however, you can see a faint flicker for a very short amount of time like it's trying to turn on. So I'm just assuming it needs to be replaced.

First, I'm not sure if I have the Halogen or HID or whatever headlights. Is there any easy way to tell (I couldn't really find anything online... I'm not car savvy).

Second, I was wondering if I should just go for the OEM headlight bulbs or if there is any difference in aftermarket bulbs. I want the same white color and everything but it would be great if it is possible to get brighter bulbs.

Thanks guys!

This is hid, notice the metal looking rod next to the bulb, halogens wouldnt have that, if it is this, try to find a 6k bulb which has a white with a very slight blue hint to it, like most higher end cars have this, defenatly sounds like a ballast problem because the bulb does keep turning back on, one trick u can do is take out the bulb and put in the other one from the other head light, if it continues its not the bulbs, it can be a ballast or even a bad ground connection, try Diodedynamics.com for more help and bulb choosing, just remember to wear gloves when touching any kind of head light bulb bc grease from our hands, which we think isnt there but it is! diminishes the bulbs life

Thanks for the reply man.

Okay so the thing is that it doesn't fully turn on. It flickers just a very tiny bit (only the left headlight... The right headlight works perfectly). I noticed this AFTER I got an entire audio system installed.

Do you think the installer could've possibly messed something up? I think the only time he went under the hood itself was to install fuse.

This is gonna sound stupid, but how would it act if the left lightbulb did indeed burn out? Would it flicker very slightly (it's only noticeable in dark) for a half second like it is now. OR would it not even turn on?

Thanks man

Welcome, well any time u open that hood anything is possible, if he was touching around tring to wire the audio system up defenatly maybe touched a wire, wiggle the harness that connects the bulb and see if that changes anything and see if all ground wires that connect to your battery/chassy are all firm and not rusted out or corroded if so clean them, if the bulb was out then it just wouldnt turn on at all, best thing to do is take out the bulb and see if its cracked or broken at all, ALTHOUGH i have seen the hid bulb crack and brake loose and come back into contact with its self again to work again which is also annoying bc that means its the bulb and the only way to check is taking it out, so honestly just take out the bulb and take a look, its not a hard job to do, ask a friend to help as well some one with small hands peferably, ballasts are around 80$ on cheap end, and bulbs are around 40$ for both on Diodedynamics.com, if its all to much work take it to a mechanic no need for stealership to look at it .... U never said if u had hid, but either way takig out the bulb is best
