Ok,
SO I played around with the positioning of the projector and got this:

The only way to mount the projector is behind the reflector bracket. If you mount in front (By cutting away some of the bracket) the chrome headlight trim will not fit over the projector body. So this is the only choice for TSXs. Opinions?

Way too far back. You're going to lose alot of the beam and width with the bezel. What about cutting the bezel to create more room?

Yeah, I don't really feel like trimming the bezels just to make it fit. I think I will put the projectors up on ebay and buy a set of Valeos.

I chose the X5 projector because it has a long lens to shield length compared to the reflector bowl length. Even then, I did get glare from the light hitting the bezel. I remedied this by painting the bottom of that bezel flat black. Infiniti does something similar with the 06 lights.

I'm working on another way to control the beam pattern that will do away with having to paint the bezel.

There was someone who emailed me pics of his retrofit. The guy who did it for him, had to totally cut apart the back portion of the headlight, and move the dust cover back another 2 inches or so. The problem is, is that you'll start hitting the fender liner if you move the dust cover back more than an inch. I don't know what happened to his project....
Hey E_K,

I think it was me a while back that e-mailed you about your retrofit (gosh it's been at least a year I think). Yes the one on hidretro.com (the first G35 he did) was infact my car. The TSX projectors do sit a bit towards the back and I personally wanted them farther forward. The challenges to move the projector forward is something I'm exploring currently and may have to design a new mold to accomodate. Even though the projector sits close to the back, the beam it produces is still very wide and produces no apparent glare. The glare control could be due to the fact that I painted the entire housing black too. The dust cover on the back was moved back about 1.5 inches and I did run into slight space issues. I ended up having to bend a metal piece back that was in the way. The fender line didn't get in the way. Overall the light output of just the TSX is significantly better than stock. With both the TSX and E46's on, it's seriously overkill but wow it's a lot of light on the road with no glare (gotta love the sharp cutoffs from projectors). If you guys have any questions feel free to e-mail me at chaoticphenoma@_gmail.com (remove the underscore)

Hi myTBG35.
haha! Thats funny...I emailed E_K about a year ago also. Liep did my lights as well after I saw yours...very nice work. I have to say I think the that the TSX projectors are waaaay better than stock also. With the TL bi-xenon's, I have to agree that it is probably overkill.

Is that with the lights on the car? The left side seems lower than the right. Or is it the fog light that is one as well?

Are you talking to me?

If so, I am putting 24 amber hi-flux wide angle LEDs into the clearance strip. Fog/High beam bulb will remain stock. Valeo 2.5" low beam projector with OSRAM D2S 4300K bulb.

Pete, so you decided to scrap the tsx projectors? I still haven't had time to get started on mine yet . After reading your previous post I ordered a pair of valeos d2s projectors. It seems like it will be easier to put those in than the tsx. The beam is still pretty nice on the valeos, do know if there is a color mod for the valeos? Late...

Kenny,
Yea I scrapped the TSXs. I should have the Valeos by tommorow and will do some test fitting. I have all of next week off (Promoted myself to another position in a different company ). SO I am almost 100% sure I will have the DIY all ready next week. If I were you I would wait until I am done so you can mooch off all my work heh. This project has turned out to be a bear! The hardest part for me is doing the LED retro into the clearance strip. I think the projector part will be relatively easy. I hope!

Pete,
I hope the Valeos work out for you, us really. Are you going to sell the tsx projectors? I will probably put mine up on ebay sometime this week or next. I need to take a week off like you and get busy on these headlights I've been working to much. Do you know of any color mods for the valeos? Late..
