Daytime Running Lights

Hi, all. The PIAA 168 bulb is rated at 5W. Is it possible to replace it with a higher wattage bulb, say 40W, to have "poor man's" DRLs? TIA

If the bulb is available it is possible. Darn thing was a pain to remove, so I did not when changing the others, did not want to break the clips. Wasn't that important for me, but some of the other guys did replace theirs', just have not heard if the PIA 168s are brighter than stock.

Hi, Pestilence. No offense. One of the problems with e-mail is determining the tone of someone's message. Some newsgroups to which I subscribe insert LOL after their comment. This convention is taken to be a hoot or a joke.

This group seems to be very enthusiastic about their G35s. I have only 1,100 miles on mine and the handling is better than the Audi A8 is drove. I mentioned to my wife how fast I drove on one of our local twisty back roads and how stable the car was. She still thought I was crazy. I'd love to take the ol' gal for a ride at Sears Point (sorry, Infeneon Raceway).

I have a basic leather sedan with two options: moonroof and sport suspension. The "underfloor covers" (part of the rear diffuser package) are on order and should be installed next week.

Back to th 168 bulb replacement... DRLs look to be an extensive modification to US cars. I was hoping I could increase the intensity of the parking lamps to simulate DRLs. I guess I should measure the gage of the wires to/from the bulbs. That will give an idea of the maximum amperage I can put on the circuit.

The PIAA 168s are not significantly brighter than stock. They just appear whiter and better match the HIDs in colour. I suppose if you replaced them with higher wattage bulbs, they might act like a 'poor man's DRL' but I'd be careful not to burn out the wiring harness. You'd want to also be careful about the extra heat. You don't want to melt the housing.
