KNIGHT RIDER light / remote starter installed!

So after talking about doing it way back when, I finally have my Knight Rider light installed. I love it! Its too damn sweet! I wish it played the sound effect. I think im going to burn an endless loop of the sound effect on CD and just blast it for kicks.

Video: (right click and save)

QuickTime Version 3.4MB
Real Player Version 1.3MB

Sorry for the crappy quality, got to dark for my camera to handle. I had it installed with my remote starter/alarm. So when the car is armed, the lights DO NOT work. The lights only turn on if I remote start the car, which adds to the coolness factor. The parking lights automatically turn on with the remote starter, I think that's how it is with most starters. The beeping noise you hear is coming from the fob, not the car.

So childhood dream #42 of having knight rider lights on my car is complete. Now its onto owning every single Generation 1 Transformers toy, right after I pilot one of the Voltron lions.

Alright man, that is hands down the coolest mod I've EVER seen! Now you definately have to get the audio clip to go along with it! Maybe a custom programed siren will do it.

Now does that light operate all the time or just when it is running on auto start? When you place the key in the ignition, does it stop?

I've got major G envy!

Hey thats pretty cool,

1 question. Did you install this yourself? If so, how did you get the tube to come on when you start the car? Is it going to stay on for the whole time? How does that work?

Thanks

Ok, I love the remote starter but the Knight Rider lights, you lost me there.

I know Knight Rider was cool when we were kids and still is a pop culture icon. But having it on your car and driving it around in public, seems kinda geeky to me. But that's only my opinion...

Re: KNIGHT RIDER light / remote starter installed!

Let me see if I can answer everyone...

No, the light does not operate all the time. The light has a toggle switch so after I get in my car, I just flip the switch and light turns off. I had it setup that way so that if I was screwing around or went autoxing, i could turn the light on while driving. But the light can not go on if the car is not running. It is also setup so that if I do not want the light to come one while remote starting the car, it wont.

No, I did not install this myself. Installing the light I could do myself. That is pretty straight forward, but I wanted it to work in conjuction with my remote starter/alarm system, so I had to have the alarm installers configure it that way.

Yes, driving around with the lights on is geeky and stupid, not to mention illegal. That's why I will not be doing that. The light is only for the remote starter or when I want to show off.

Yes, its an easy mod if you just want the light. But if you do it yourself, its only on/off, regardless if the car is running or not.

I can also control the speed of the light making it go slower or faster. So if was going 100mph, I could make the light move quicker. But then again, I would need to be driving with the light on for that to happen, which I won't do.

Cool. What remote starter did u buy? Clifford? And did you buy an aftermarket alarm with it or did you have it hooked up to the exisiting factory alarm?
