Newbie HID question

If I want to change just the lowbeam bulbs can I just buy some 10,000k bulbs and install them?
Also where would you recomend me to look for different bulbs.

LOL, what PeteNJ is trying to say is that 10,000K bulbs will be blue/purple, provide no light whatsoever, be illegal, and not to mention UGLY! Stick with something under 6000K, most people upgrade to Phillips Ultinon 6000K.

I highly don't recommond anythign above 5,000k. The reason is that the higher in the kevlin scale you go.. the less visible light will be on the ground for you to see. The higher K basically states that the bulb will be near the UV and infer-red of the light spectrum.. unless you can see those tyep of light waves, you'll be putting out a lot less light on the ground... it's a poor investment.

Going backwards in technology, and it's no better then back int he days when people put blue bulbs into their halogen housings becuase it's "cool" yet put out alot less light then factory due to the coating. Not to mention the high wattage on them burns up a lot of stock wiring harness and burnt down a couple cars that I know.

However the factory hid reflector setup takes a D2R bulb since it has a coating on the bottom to prevent excessive glare to oncoming driver. The clearance notch on them are also different so if you get a D2S bulb, you'll have to file a small notch to fit it but it doesn't have that under coating and you'll be no better then those hid kit users out there with their blinding tC scion, accords and etc.

There are some on ebay that has.. a D2C? or something that has both clearance slot notched out to fit a D2S or D2R but it still doesn't have that coating on the bottom of the bulb that you'll want and need.

Best Regards,
Larry
