D2R vs. D2S
I tried to search D2R and D2S, but i didn't get any results so bare with me if it's a repost.
I was browsing through the threads and found this:
https://g35driver.com/forums/body-interior-exterior-lighting-diy/13436-how-change-xenon-bulbs.html
My problem is i already bought the D2S bulbs and i was wondering if anyone else had any experiences with the ballast.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

DO NOT PUT D2S bulbs. Reason is the messes up the balast for the xenon. If they do infact want to change the bulbs make sure they get it like the original model. Use D2R
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Well... here's an update. I found out the only differences between the D2R and D2S bulbs are 1) The shielding on the bulb and 2) the notch on the base of the bulb. I took a dremel tool and made a new notch for the D2S to fit into our D2R housing. This was done easily as on the Philips bulbs, there are already markings on the base that show you where the notch would go. This indicates to me Philips utilizes the same basic design/parts for both the S and R bulbs.
Once i did that, the bulbs popped in without any problems. As far as glare goes, it's not even noticeable. In fact, the bulbs look brighter without the shielding strip.
I don't see how the bulb will affect any other component of the headlight assembly. Also i found out my friend who has an IS300 and has been running D2S in the same manner for the past 3 years with no problems.
I would recommend them to anyone else willing to take a drill to their bulbs.

the whole point of the D2S bulb is to work with a projector. The 03-05 housing will give of glare in unwanted places for the oncoming traffic.
I still dont get why people do things like this. In NY i see all these idiots who put HIDs in a non HID housing and blind the f-k out of the drivers. I'm glad they out law them and give people tickets for stupidity.

Pics!!!!!
Please excuse the crappy 3.2mp camera... i need an SLR
(First Pic) - A little blurry... but it shows the color well
(Second Pic) - Blurry as well, but it captured the color of my yellow driving/hibeam lights the best. You can kind of see the slight purple hue the bulb gives off as that's the color of the actual bulb. Nice transition from yellow, to purple, to white at different angles. I couldn't capture that on camera though.
(Third Pic) - This one captures the headlight color better in conjunction with the driving/hibeam
(Forth Pic) - A shot from the end of the driveway.
(Fifth Pic) -And a shot of where the light is being thrown. You can see at the far garage door the light is still pretty consistent and doesn't throw light everywhere.
