PIAA 002-X Driving Light Install and Pics

I am a daily browser of the forums so I decided to finally make a contribution and post pictures of my PIAA driving lights installation.

I knew in advance that I wanted to install them in the lower grill inserts, but the problem I had was finding a way to incorporate a bezel into the grill to clean up the install. After all, you must cut a hole in the grill and I wanted the cleanest possible install.

This morning I found the solution, plastic tea cups from my daughter's play kitchen. The teacup's handle was cut off and then the cup was cut in half to form the bezel. Luckily the lights fit right inside the cups. After bending some aluminum, cutting the hole in the lower grills, painting the teacup bezels, and finally wiring the lights, the results are as I had hoped.

The lights are wired via a relay to turn on when the side marker lights are powered.

Enjoy the pictures.

Nice work. I feel like they'd look much better if they were placed further out towards the sides though...

Wider placement would prove difficult with the bumper support structure in the way. This was the widest I could place them without a difficult refabrication of the brackets I made and some behind the bumper cutting.

I do agree, about 3" wider on each side would have been best.

Night shots

This is the best I could get with my camera. I am thinking a slightly bluer tint to the driving lights to match the HIDs. Now that I see these at night, the narrow placement is growing on me, kind of out of the ordinary.

Enjoy.

The fourth picture are the piaa's only. The fifth are both the piaa's and HID.

They would look a lot better if the PIAA's matched the HIDs.
