This is one mod that you would have to be certifiably insane to not appreciate.

I have received all but the D2S bulbs and the housings, which are to be delivered tomorrow. I'll be brightening up the road by the weekend.

I plan to have them installed for the meet on Saturday. Shhh, keep it a secret until then. I've been trying to fly under the FGC radar.

Are the Philips 6000k the way to go? I see some people with the 5000k and even as low as 4300k (stock). Correct me if I'm wrong but the 6000k are the best bang for the buck? I'm thinking about doing the conversion on my 2005 Coupe.

best bang for the buck? uuummmm, i think I saw a thread last night which was selling the Philips 4300K for $75...

the Philips Ultinons 6000K i bought were 199 plus shipping. it all depends what quality you get, my advice: stick with the Philips brand

Best bang for the buck? I think the 4300K fits that bill. You can get a pair of Philips bulb on Ebay for less than $70 shipped while 6000K will cost about $100 or more.

According to http://faqlight.carpassion.info/hl-hid-bulbs.htm the Ultinon 6000K is not brighter than a stock 4100K D2S, if that's what you want. But the Ultinon will be more blue.

Some aftermarked vendors market Ultinon as a brighter bulb than a standard D2. This is not true:
OEM Philips D2S is 3200lm bright (+/-450lm) and 4100K colortemp (0.380x 0.390y). (For comparison)
Philips Ultinon D2S is 2400lm bright (+/-250lm) and 5800K colortemp (0.327X 0.312Y).
Explore the http://faqlight.carpassion.info/ site for a lot of good info.

Good info, I think the 6000k is prolly the way to go for the "look" I'm after. If I'm going to do this I'll do it right. Does anyone know if the '06 projectors are beam height adjustable? I know the old reflectors are, but I haven't looked at the '06 projectors yet. I installed the Tein S-Techs and realized the drop made a huge impact on my headlamp coverage.

there's a thread in the lighting section called "Another Ultinon group buy" where you can get them for $210 shipped.

the ones i bought were $199 + about $25 shipping...

and here's the link to the seller: notice these are D2R's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-New...4257QQtcZphoto GREAT seller by the way! got my bulbs in about 2 days after payment

only buy those if you have the reflector housings.

Yes they are. On the back of the housing you will see a lil silverish colored screw. It requires an 8mm socket or wrench.
