Are these uncommon strictly based upon price? or do people just not like them??? I think they Frigggin ROCK!
Its price dude. I think they're sick. I also think I could get an Iso Thermal Plenum Spacer Kit, GReddy true dual, Crawford Cats, and almost any CAI for that much. It all depends on what kind of money you want to spend on your car. If it were my money, I'd bank on the go-fast mods

Pearlcoupeg35, here's a couple pics for you. They won't come on at the same time as the factory foglamps and you get a switch that will toggle between the two. But they're still controlled with the control on the lighting stalk. Hope you can read Japanese or have a shop that can figure it out from the pictures.
Honestly, comparing the cost to performance mods is apples and oranges. But if you were to compare spending the money on a body kit vs getting these, then it'll be easier for you to rationalize because only the Veilside kit and OE style lips work with the fog lights. You'll probably want to get the inserts painted to match, they're a charcoal grey out of the box.

In this picture you can see the switch on the JDM battery cover, we installed it in the engine bay and created a bracket for the relays.

They would definitely look sick and have incredible light output when matched up to a set of '06 projectors. Thats next on the list, but I can't just throw on a set of stock headlamps...

dude, your front is sick. I couldn't find myself paying that much for them but that's what being unique is all about. how is the fitment? do you not have a stock grill anymore behind them?

Problem is, when I hit my high-beams, the lower HIDs go off and only the HB2 bulb is on for the highbeam which is less light than running the HIDs. So even if I did a projector retrofit for my current lamps, I still lack projector high-beams unless I do a bi-xenon retrofit too. So right there I have a fairly time consuming task that is inherently more difficult than the sum of retrofitting 4 projectors. With my schedule, I'd never get that done by myself....
Even still, after that's done, I'm in the same situation of deactiving fog lights to turn the high beams on. Not really want I want out of my headlamps. Plus It seems rather futile to install a bi-xenon projector that will primarily be used for high beams only, never as an auxilliary low-beam. I also question how easily I could intall a projector that doesn't bounce light off the inner bezel. Thats why the 06 bezel is oval shaped vs the reflectors more even circular shape.
Which brings me to where I am right now. From a functional standpoint, the 06 lamps are what I need as a basis for my plans.
Bi-Xenon projector in the upper mount - I'm not overly hung up on the sharp cutoff aspect. I think the flicker effect of a razor sharp cutoff is whats prompting the NHTSA to crack down on HID headlamps. So even though its not the sharpest cutoff, they'll work from me My goal is the increased output. From an aesthetic perspective, I want the bi-xenon up top. So when I turn my high beams on, I'm still using the higher mounted lamp. It also separates the fog from the high.
City Light - With that I can illuminate the lower portion of the headlamp even with my fog lights on and I don't believe it turns off when the high beams are hit. Gives me a bit of the old factory quad lamp look again.
I've sent a note to the Pierson's at KPTech about their fog light control module. Looking to see if that will work so the fog lights stay on when the high beams are engaged. Combine that with 06 lamps and I can have quad projectors for both high and low beams. Techically I could have triple set with their module and a quad retrofit, but that doesn't really seem worth the effort and I think my other ideas has a lot more potential.
Also, I've provided Clearcorners.com with a set of 06 lamps. In their words, "they have a LOT of potential."
