+ with + and - and -. That's it. :-)

The plug for the corners looks like this (this is actually from the license plate light i took out).

you can cut the wire and hard wire if you want, but i just put the wires into the hole and taped it up so if i ever need to switch it back for some strange reason, it would be "plug and play." :-)

yea i've used the inverter in the rear for about three weeks now and no problems with it either. i had these on since monday and one of them went out. I'm guessing it was due to the rain we had on monday and tuesday. i replaced it and relocated it temporarily in the engine bay for now. i originally hid it under the wheel well, but i guess water can get up there easily.

so far, so good.

what would I need? the 6" CCFL and just plug the wires to + & -?
Just one 12" ccfl. you have to cut the metal frame a little to fit the light in. and secure it with something. i used caulking 9cuz that's all i had at the time )

and yup, just plug the + to + and - to -.

more pics (i put tape over my license plate so i didn't have to edit the photo)

those are awesome. (hopefully) a last request - can you pop the clear corner and take the picture of the back of it? i'd love to see the wires coming out of it and how it's covered up. then we can petition to put this thread into the DIY section.

Unfortunatly i taped up the wiring behind the corners, so you won't be able to see much. but luckily for you i had an extra corner, so quickly recreated what i did.

hopefully this will answer your question.

First, take apart your corner and cut a hole (about 1/4" wide) on the top of the reflective part

(how you do this next part is really up to you, this is just how i did it)
You'll have to set up the ccfl light next. take it out of the tube (i found the best way to do this is leave it on for about 10 minutes, it will get hot and melt the silicone inside. then you can just pull it out) and super glued the wires to the light like this:

i used aluminum tape to cover the ends of the light and the wires.

then place the light onto the reflective part

and secure with tape on the back

i used the original bulb socket to seal the hole behind the corners

lastly, put the clear lens back on and seal it. i used aluminum tape to seal the top and bottom. and for the sides i used liquid nail (from home depot...in the caulking section)

be warned: do not use super glue to seal the corners. trust me.

wiring is mentioned a couple of posts up ^^

Good luck if you decide to try it. :-) PM me if you have any questions. I'll be glad to answer them.

oh i forgot, i also bought some weather striping cuz i ripped off the crappy ones if came with.

To those in SoCal: I can do this mod for you if you like. Only catch is, you have to drop off your corners for me for a week or two (depending on how busy my week is) and provide the materials. you have to pick them up when i'm done and i can hlp you do the wiring as well if you like. Just send me a PM. I'm in the Pomona/Riverside/Moreno Valley area. A donation would be nice but i'll leave that up to you.

hey Yume,

you answered a question I was going to ask you, and that's regarding if you could do the mod for me for a fee of course.

One thing, would I get pulled over for having CCFL in the corners like you have?

i am definately interested in the license plate CCFL though. let me know what i'd need to buy or, if you have the material already, i'd rather pay you for it. and i wouldn't mind installed

let me know, thanks!

you know...i don't really know if they will pull you over for just the corners. I know it's illegal ( i wanted to get an amber color, but they don't have ccfl in amber). but from my experience, i haven't had a cop pull me over for any lighting or exhuast before. they wrote me up for lights and exhuast before, but they pulled me over for speeding. he was being nice and let me off with non-moving violations. I would say it would depend on the cop you run into...if he's a nice guy or some guy that gets irritated easily. but mostly, i don't think cops would pull you over for one minor thing.

all you would need is one 12" ccfl tube and the inverter. you can get it at svc.com for $6 plus shipping. and some caulking to secure it. it's really easy to do, but i can do it for you if you want. probably sometime next week. it has to be at night though, cuz i gotta work.

i was actually thinking about this too. i took a quick glance at the light underneath and it looks kinda small, so i'm not sure how that would work yet. if i get around to it, i'll let you guys know.
