Great job. If only we could get CCFLs in amber, I would do this.

I've had CCFLs in my clearance strip for about 2 months now, with no issues. But even though they're supposed to be white, they're way too blue for corner lights.

no problem. The wiring is the easy part. Getting the frame for the lights out without removing your bumper is the hard part.

hey Yume, how long would this mod (license plate) take you to do?

for instance, if I bring in all CCFL for it?

E_K, are you saying that thee ccfl in your clearance strip is blue? the ones i have in my corners are white and they don't have any hint of blue in it at night. i know it kinda looks blue in the pictures, but it's just my bad camera skills. :-)

I set a blue ccfl light as well to compare the white and blue. The blue looks even better than the white. It gives the corner a crystalline blue look to it. looks bad @$$. i would have gone with blue, but i think cops are more likely to pull you over for blue.

should take about 30-60 minutes...depending how long it takes to take out the frame...like i said, that's the hardest part.

im definately interested but i dont really want to make to trips to your place. for instance: 1 for getting the CCFL on the rear plates and dropping the clear corners off and once you're ready with them i'll pick those up 2 weeks later.

i'd rather have everything done at the same time but i understand it takes time for the clear corners. =/

any ideas? or maybe i'll just stick to the clears corners and just throw an LED light in there...

how much would you charge me for the job on the rear plate? (i'd be ordering the parts)

yea i know what you mean about two trips, back and forth. it can be a pain if you're far away. what area of socal are you in?

clear corners are up to you. one of the reasons i'd prefer people to drop them off for me is so they can look at my corners in person and decide if they really want to go that route or not. IMO, it looks nice and it looks nice in the pictures too. but everyone has they're own opinions and i don't want to have any compaints that "it's not what i expected."

about price...i'll do it for free. like i said b4, you just gotta get the stuff to me and give me time to work on it. i'm not doing it for the money, i just like working on cars. i am up for donations though. whatever you want to give is fine with me.

Codeflux: I used the 4" light. I should of used the 6" one. The 4" is actually short compared to the clear corners.[/QUOTE]

do you think i can put 4" light for bottom and 6" light for top?
or is it bright enough with just one ccfl???
one more...why didn't you place it in middle???

you can use a 4" and a 6", but you're gonna have to use a thinner wire. if you look at the corners, it's actually thinner at the ends, so you might have a harder time closing and sealing the corners if you use a 6" light. it's pretty bright with one light as it is, already brighter than the bulb that was originally in there.

my first design, i had two lights centered in the middle. you can see the tubes through the clear lens, which made it look crappy. so to hide the tube as best as i could, i put it in the top so you wouldn't be able to see the tube as much. i put aluminum tape over the front of the light, so that it would only shine down. so instead of seeing the light itself, you're seeing the reflection of the light off of the reflective part of the corners.

You could do this w/o cutting the 1/4 hole by running the wires through the hole that the bulb used right? I guess it makes hiding it a bit harder though. Great mod btw! I was looking for some alternate lighting and this seems to fit the bill. Next you should do the mod that makes the corners double as turn signals.
