My Clear Corners

Did some modification to my clear corners. I didn't like the hole in the middle where the bulbs go, so i filled in the spot and put in a ccfl light in it. now i gotta get some 6000k bulbs so the headlights will match the corners better.
The last pic is of the 12" ccfl i replaced my license plate light with.

also, where did you get the CCFLs, and in what size? the smallest i've seen them is 4" - wouldn't that be too long?

I got the ccfl lights from coolerguys.com. I bought 2 sets of lights for a total of about $15 plus $5 for shipping. And i got the corners off of ebay for $30. Should have costed $50, but i messed up the first set of corners i got, so another $30 for another pair of clear corners. Aluminum tape and liquid nail (to seal the corners) from home depot for about $10. grand total $90.

It's kinda good that i messed up the first pair because i cut up the pair i messed up to fill in that hole in the center.

I will take closer pictures when i get home from work tonight.

Codeflux: I used the 4" light. I should of used the 6" one. The 4" is actually short compared to the clear corners.

Very nice Yume! Both mods look great. I was actaully going to try this as well. Great to know that it is feasible. Good job.

Excellent, thanks for your response. I'd love to see some close-up pics in daylight.

so, the CCFL inverters haven't fried yet from the 14 volts, eh? they are usually rated for 12V, and don't take kindly to change in voltage. btw, how/where did you mount the inverters, and how did you make it so that the clear corners could be taken off?

GThirtyFive4Me: CCFL = cold cathod fluorescent light. it's a gas light that works on high-voltage low-amperage AC current. each light comes with an inverter, that takes 12V/0.5A DC and converts it to ~2500V/0.0005 AC (the amperage numbers are a guess - i don't remember what they really are).

as far as where to get CCFLs, you can find them on *any* PC modding site

www.frozencpu.com
www.directron.com
www.svc.com
the list goes on.

the corners are difficult to do it myself but i'd love to do it on the license plate.

what would I need? the 6" CCFL and just plug the wires to + & -?

I have been using two inverters for months and have no issues. However, one of the inverters went bad within a couple of days. I swapped it out for a new one and everything has been fine since.
