Kenstyle Fog Light Install Question

Hi,

I have a Kenstyle body kit thats going on my car, but I am a little confused on how the fogs are being wired in. I have the authentic kit, and the fogs came with a small wiring harness that has a clip connector to the fogs, and two bullet connectors at the other end. The kit didn't come with any other wiring harness or instructions for the electrical installation for the fogs. If anyone knows how the install goes or have the instructions for the kit, please let me know.

Thanks

Question I would also like to know

I would also like to know how the foglights are installed. The body shop I went to could not wire the fog lights because they told me that they do not specialize in that type of thing. Where could I possibly have my fog lights installed (at a car audio shop like Tweeter maybe?) and how much would installation cost me? Thanks

first off...not another bunch of cars running the kenstyle body kit. Why oh why!!! *done ranting*

yeah...had to figure how to wire that stuff myself.

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT a professional, but will tell you how I wired my Kenstyle fog lights.

you have several options. wire them to turn on with the G35 foglights or have them on with the parking lights or have them on when you turn on the regular lights. i didn't do it any of these ways, so if you want, you'll need to ask someone else. i'm sure you can just tap the wires for these respective lights, but not sure how safe that is.

instead, i bought a switch that allowed me to control the foglights separate from the G35 oem lights. all equipment was bought at the local Autozone/Kragen/PepBoys.

the little plugs at the end of the wires...I just cut off.

You'll need to buy a relay.

i followed a diagram similar to the one above. i forgot what size fuse I used. there's more info on the net in regards on how to wire foglights. think of these as generic foglights you would buy to add to any car, with the exception that these did not come with a switch or relay

each of your kenstyle has it's own ground wire. i just ran each of them along with the ground for the relay to one part of the chassis.

geez..it's been so long i don't remember the exact details.

well...not the most helpful post, but hopefully i got you in the right direction.

Basically you need to buy the following to do it yourself:

1- relay
2- fuse holder
3- fuse
4- wire crimper/cutter/stripper
5- electrical tape
6- butt connectors and wire taps
7- switch
8- you might need extra wires

it sounds difficult, but can be easy if you have a general understanding of wiring.

depending on how you want them wired, an audio shop will charge you at least $100 since they need to run wires from the engine bay to the driver side as well as remove the front bumper and/or wheel liner to gain access to the foglights.

i had everything wired, so when the body shop went to install the kit, they just needed to plug in the plug connector.

EDIT: Most newbies have a tendency to never revisit a thread they start. If you want to wire a separate switch like I did, PM me if you want more detailed instructions.

Smile Thanks!

Thank you very much for a very prompt and detailed response! I'll probably go to an audio shop to get the wiring done as I have no experience with wiring whatsoever. Thank you for listing all my options, it was very helpful

there's a blank spot underneath the VDC/trunk release button.

it pops right out. i made a cut out for the switch to fit and poped that piece right back.

you'll see it.

ran the wires through a big *** grommet located underneath the windshield wiper cowel on the passenger side. take off the battery cover and you'll see it. it's the same area where Inifiniti runs all its wires
